I would have sent this to you 30 minutes ago but I have just cooked my wife Sunday morning breakfast..
Two boiled eggs, dark toast cut into slivers and white coffee (no sugar..) delivered on a blue tray to the royal bedroom..
She is happy.
It’s been a lovely couple of days..
My band played Friday night at my son’s footy club (see Flipside Fan Club on Facebook or www.leighfarnell.com/Flipside if you’re musical..)
Then a movie in bed Saturday morning (while it rained and blew a gale outside) with lunch at Cottesloe overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Then a cocktail party at James’ School last night… very nice..
It’s been great quality time with my wife and friends..
So what are the lessons from this week?
We’ve all heard of the “quality time” argument.. that we spend with partners, loved ones, children etc..
But this week I was with clients where sales people are mis-using time in so many different ways..
How time is spent with clients..
How time is spent on the phone..
How time is spent at their desks…
How time is spent in meetings..
Without giving people guidelines, scripts, systems, tools to know how to use their time best, they will make up their own scripts, systems, tools… and in most cases, it won’t be best practice..
Tip One: find out who does it best, then capture what they do..
Find your best face to face closer, and deconstruct what they do.
Find your best time manager, and find out what they do..
