OK.. so it’s Sunday again already (or Monday if you haven’t checked your
email’s over the weekend..)
I have just come back from an early start to the day..
My son James was playing in the Tennis Club Championships today so he wanted to be
at the courts warming up by 7.15am. That meant up early, drop him off, and rather than sit in the cold
and watch him warm up I raced down the beach for a quick jog and swim.
What a great start to the day… 7.30am.. no wind, great waves followed by a warm shower
in the Surf Club and a laugh with old mates I hadn’t seen for a while..
James played well but was knocked out in the second round..
He was not happy after leading 8-4, lost in a tie breaker… and he was in no mood for a debrief after the match..
which is a key lesson..
TIMING IS EVERYTHING
I might have been ready to give feedback, but he wasn’t ready to receive…
So I’ll have to wait until later today (or tomorrow) for the right moment to have that chat..
Isn’t that the same with you? As a team leader, owner, manager, we have to make sure
we have rapport, the right window of opportunity, before we have the ‘coaching chat’.
‘When the student is ready the teacher will appear…’
But if the mood is wrong, the message can fall on deaf ears..

I am seeing more and more examples of thousands, hundreds of thousands and even
millions of dollars being lost because people are not using the right science and logic in
writing and presenting quotes, proposals and pitches for their products and services.
(With all due respect to tradesman, stubbies shorts and AC/DC)…..read on..
Too many highly skilled, intelligent, professional people are presenting quotes and proposals
like a tradesman with his bum crack hanging out of his stubbies and a AC/DC tee shirt with holes and paint
stains on it..
