The week started at KL Airport and finished in a Board room with our high powered Mastermind group in Perth.
What a week..
WHAT YOU SAY NO TO
It’s so easy when you run your own business to get attracted to shiny objects.
An idea might sound exciting, exotic, potentially money making.. but if it’s not in your business plan..you might want to have a second or third think about it.
Even better.. (lesson to self) have a checklist of 5-7 criteria that an idea or opportunity must pass before you do it..
In fact.. that would be good for what clients you take on too..
What are the criteria you want in your ideal client?
If you don’t have a list of criteria of the type of clients you want to work with.. you’ll end up working with whoever shows up..
And whoever shows up may be either a pain in the a…e, a cheap skate, or take your eye of the ball of actually attracting someone who will be a good client, a good payer, a good referrer of business..
As Mum used to say, ‘take care who you get into bed with….it’s a bigger decision than you think..’
RECRUITING AND TRAINING
Had a client this week give a testimonial who has had a massive jump in sales..
He recruited someone who could sell..
Lesson.. Don’t try to train yourself out of a bad recruiting situation.. Hire a good salesperson in the first place..
Old proverb — ‘You can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear..’
If the sows ear is coachable.. you can get them selling more..
But if the sows ear is not coachable.. it’s hard work and a waste of time for everyone..
That’s where our green zone/red zone tool comes in very handy..
One of our clients has cleaned out half their sales team using that tool..
They are making more money with less sales people and everyone (including customers) are way happier.
