Sunday morning.. about to go to water polo training.
Our trusty dog Ebony is faithfully sitting at my feet..but I woke up with a couple of key thoughts I wanted to share with you from this week..
THE MENTAL UPGRADE
John and I this week spent 2 full days educating and re-educating ourselves.
We sat in front of a TV screen watching DVD’s of a Master of Sales and Marketing share new and powerful sales and marketing strategies.
Some of the things we had heard before, some we hadn’t.
Many were WOW.. ideas..
The point is… we locked ourselves away to get a mental upgrade.
It’s so easy to keep your head down and work flat out… but without a mental upgrade, you could be like an old computer, using the old version of Windows or Word rather than the latest.
You can still get the job done, but could you get it done faster, easier, more productively if you had an upgrade?
As Socrates once said ‘the unexamined life is not worth living..’
The unexamined business is not worth running…
or more to the point, the unexamined business will continue to be harder and harder work..
Because you’ll be using older and older technology in a world and marketplace that is changing faster and faster..
SALES PRODUCTIVITY WILL BE A MAJOR THEME IN 2011
One of our key themes for 2011 will be SALES PRODUCTIVITY..
How to get more out of your existing Sales Resources?
Same resources – better results…
- What are we doing well?
- Where are the gaps between what we are doing and what we should be doing?
- If we are to be the best, the most productive, the most effective, the most dominant in our marketplace, what do we need to do?
- Who can we learn from and model both inside and outside our industry to make a quantum leap forward, not just an incremental leap forward?
- Do we need more firepower on our team or can we do more with what we have?
Hope these help….
Talking of Hope..
THE PLAN OF HOPE
Ran a session with a client who has been with us for 4 years now this week..
Had a proud moment when Mark and Dan from DMD Shelving took me to their new office/warehouse complex.
Mark said ‘this all started when we ran our first session with you 4 years ago Leigh. We set a goal to have a 3600 square metre site with offices and warehouse on it..and now.. here it is..’
These guys are super star clients.
They set goals.
They work the plan.
They take the ideas and strategies we create with them, and they IMPLEMENT.
They work in a state of POSITIVE EXPECTANCY..
They expect success.. and they get it..
Make sure you’re taking time out either before Christmas or after to create your PLAN OF HOPE for 2011 and beyond..
Without a goal.. a vision… a dream… hope, what is there to wake up to each day…?
If you want Blue Rocket to ‘put a rocket into your plans for 2011..’ hit reply and write ‘plan of hope’ in the subject line..
I’m off to the pool.
See you next week.
