There is an old saying – Success Breeds Success..
Why is that?
Is it true?
At the time of writing the Dockers are sitting undefeated at the top of the AFL ladder. They have won 8 games in a row. The Eagles are sitting number two having won their last 6 games. On the other hand, Carlton sits a sad last at the bottom of the ladder with plenty of talk about massive changes in players and coaching staff in the wind. It’s the same with companies. Apple going from strength to strengthover the past 10 to 15 years.
Success Breeds Success
The Success Mindset expects Success. The Losing Mindset doesn’t expect success. Psychologists call it a State of Positive Expectancy. Expectancy Theory says we make different choices depending on whether we expect to win or lose. You want your team expecting the Positive. Expecting to get on well with people. Expecting to get the business if they do the right things. Expecting to get referrals if you ask for them. We train Sales and Management Teams in how to harness the incredible Power in the Psychology of Success Strategies.
Celebrating and Reinforcing Success
One simple but powerful Success Strategy is the Celebrating and the public acknowledgement of success. This is not a new strategy, but the ‘Ring the Bell with Every Sale’ is a powerful ‘peer affirming’ success strategy. You want it to be OK that we acknowledge and celebrate success in this team. You don’t want people afraid to talk about and share their successes.
Share The Success Story
Invariably people will then share the story of ‘how I got that sale..’ That then becomes a Teaching / Coaching story within the group and shows the others in the team what is required to get the result. Make sure you create opportunities for people to share their success stories. Success will breed more success. Make sure they are not sitting around whinging and complaining and sharing how they lost or didn’t get the sale. Just as success can breed success, failure can also breed more failure. Ring the Bell and Share the Success.
