CONFIDENT, ARROGANT OR STUPID?
I was in a coaching session this week and a new Sales employee announced that they didn’t need Sales Coaching; they had been in sales for 20 years and they were past listening to CD’s or needing any of ‘that basic stuff..’
You can imagine the look on the Sales Managers face..
A point I made later to the Sales Manager was part of any Managing or Coaching relationship is the need for and importance of individual and team Compliance..
That is, if the person isn’t going to comply with some of the rules early on, what other rules are they going to break later on?
Tip: If you don’t get people complying to your rules, systems and standards in the first 7 days, get ready for trouble… If you use the ‘Easy to Join’ rule… You’ll get the Hard to Manage consequence.
The funny thing is, every top performer we have worked with over the past 20 years, is also a massive, enthusiastic advocate for ongoing learning, staying green, staying open to being reminded, challenged, refreshed.. Always looking for an edge, a new idea, a blind spot exposed… The Olympic motto ‘stronger, higher, faster..’ means that Champions are always looking to go to the next level.. rather than having arrived..

Never assume they know… Keep the activity stats under the noses of your team, and they automatically will adjust their activity levels..
