OBAMA HAS A LAUGH
I see on the news this morning as I was eating my muesli President Obama having a laugh at himself (about the size of his ears) when he went inside one of the Pyramids in Egypt this week..
Good to see a leader being able to have a laugh at himself..
And at the same time this week he drew attention to the plight of both the Jewish people and the Moslem people…’we have more in common that we do have differences…’ a point the media and many of us forget sometimes..
This is a key point we keep coaching our Sales Champion clients in.. find points in common with your prospects and connect as a human being FIRST.. before you both trying to sell, influence, persuade or help them.. BE INTEREST-ED before you expect the prospect to be interested in your solution..
My old mate and May CD of the Month guest Garry Capelli sms-ed me Friday night to say he and Leanne had just given birth to a beautiful baby daughter…
‘So what?’ I hear some of you say..
Well, for a start my old mate is a couple of years older than me.. so as he said to me on the phone..
‘You get to a stage in life when you think nothing much is going to change, that this is pretty much it.. and then something like this comes along.. and wow.. life just knocks your socks off one more time.. You forget just how wonderful the birth of another human being is.. how magical.. how joyous..’
The joy in his voice coming down the phone line to me brought a little tear to my eye.. and it reminded me of just how grateful I am for my 3 crazy kids.. and how grateful I am for my darling wife for giving birth to them.. ‘the attitude of gratitude’ as Zig Ziglar says… so important..
Talking of attitude, I did a CD of the month interview with Garry’s brother Glenn Capelli this week too.
Glenn is passionate about Learning and Education. He is an international expert in Learning and travels the world speaking on the topic… He is a living example of ‘staying green..lifelong learning.. lifelong joy in learning..’

STAYING IN THE GREEN
Another tool I created this week for our clients was a ‘Staying or Going’ tool for sales people.
It has become clear to me that too many salespeople are unclear of what is really expected of them..or even worse.. where well intentioned sales managers are at a loss with how to deal with underperformers…
I created a 7 point list of behaviours and standards that means you are either in the ‘green zone…and we want you to stay..’ or in the ‘red zone…where we will micro manage and coach you to either get back in the green zone.. or ask you to leave..’
Hire Slow and Fire Fast is the advice of some of the experts in this area..
If you have underperformers on your team.. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT..
